Apply generously to your baby’s skin throughout the day as needed. For best results, use on damp skin. We recommend applying the Barrier Balm immediately after bath time, before the skin is completely dry.
If applying between baths, lightly mist the skin with clean water before applying the Barrier Balm to help lock in moisture.

Frequently asked questions

How is Roo Organics Moisturizing Barrier Balm different from a regular lotion?

Unlike many traditional lotions that are water-based and evaporate quickly, Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm is a rich, water-free formula designed to help lock in moisture and support the skin barrier for longer-lasting hydration.

Why use a barrier balm for kids and infants?

A child’s skin barrier is still developing and can lose moisture more easily than adult skin. Barrier balms help protect the skin by creating a gentle layer that locks in hydration and shields delicate skin from irritation caused by dryness, drool, friction, cold weather, or frequent washing. Regular use can help keep skin soft, calm, and resilient.

Can the Moisturizing Barrier Balm be applied multiple times in a day?

Yes! Barrier balm can be applied as often as needed throughout the day. Many parents use it after bath time, before bed, and anytime skin looks dry or irritated. You can apply all over or use as a spot treatment for problem areas on your child’s skin. Reapplying helps maintain hydration and keeps the protective barrier intact.

Can the Moisturizing Barrier Balm be used with other products?

Yes! The Moisturizing Barrier Balm can be used alongside other skincare products, including SPF. When layering products, apply lighter lotions first and finish with the balm to lock everything in.

Can I use the Moisturizing Barrier Balm on my child's face?

Absolutely. Barrier Balm is gentle enough for delicate areas like cheeks, around the mouth, and other dry or irritated spots. Use it to protect skin from drool, wind, cold weather, and everyday dryness. As with any new skincare product, we recommend patch testing before full use — especially for sensitive or eczema-prone skin. Apply a small amount to a small area of skin and monitor for 24 hours before more widespread application.

Is the Moisturizing Barrier Balm safe for babies with eczema?

Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm was thoughtfully formulated for sensitive and eczema-prone skin. It was made with gentle, nourishing ingredients that help support the skin’s natural barrier and maintain hydration—two important factors for eczema-prone skin. If your child has severe or persistent eczema, it’s always best to consult your pediatrician or dermatologist for guidance.

Is Roo's Moisturizing Barrier Balm safe for newborn skin?

Yes! Our Moisturizing Barrier Balm is designed to be gentle enough for delicate newborn skin. Newborn skin can lose moisture easily, so using a simple, nourishing balm can help support the skin barrier and protect against dryness. As with any new skincare product, we recommend testing a small amount on a small area of skin first.

What ingredients help support the skin barrier?

Healthy skin depends on a strong barrier that keeps moisture in and irritants out. Ingredients like colloidal oatmeal, coconut oil, shea butter, mango butter, beeswax, and vitamin E help nourish the skin, support hydration, and reinforce the skin’s natural protective layer. These ingredients help soothe and protect dry or sensitive skin.

Is the Moisturizing Barrier Balm fragrance-free and steroid-free?

Yes. Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm is completely steroid-free and contains no added fragrance, artificial perfumes, parabens, or phthalates — making it gentle for sensitive skin.

Can I use Moisturizing Barrier Balm with prescription topical eczema treatments?

Often, yes. Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm is a non-medicated formula created to nourish and protect dry, sensitive skin and is commonly used alongside prescription eczema therapies. A common approach is to apply prescription products first, wait for them to absorb, and then apply a barrier balm to help maintain moisture and support the skin barrier. Keeping eczema-prone skin well moisturized can help minimize dryness and irritation between treatments. Be sure to follow the guidance of your child’s pediatrician or dermatologist for best use.

Can I use Moisturizing Barrier Balm for diaper rash, cradle cap, or dry scalp?

Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm may help soothe and moisturize dry, irritated skin associated with diaper rash, cradle cap, and dry scalp. Its rich, protective formula helps support the skin barrier and lock in moisture. For persistent, severe, or worsening symptoms, we recommend consulting your pediatrician.

Is the Moisturizing Barrier Balm suitable for adults with dry or sensitive skin?

Absolutely. While Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm was created with babies and children in mind, many adults love using our rich, steroid-free balm for dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin. It’s especially great for dry hands, irritated patches, chapped skin, and areas needing extra barrier support.

How long will one balm stick last?

How long Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm lasts depends on how often and where it’s being used. For smaller areas like cheeks, hands, or dry patches used a few times daily, one balm stick may last several months. For larger areas or more frequent full-body use, it may last closer to a few weeks. A little goes a long way — we recommend starting with a small amount and applying more as needed.

How should I store the Moisturizing Barrier Balm and what is the shelf life?

Store Roo’s Moisturizing Barrier Balm in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and sunlight. Because the formula contains nourishing oils and butters, exposure to high temperatures may soften the balm. When stored properly, the balm is best used within 6 months of opening.
